How do you get a card game published?

Jerry O asked:

I have created a card game, with its own cards and rules, but I was wondering how I could or should get it published.

    1. Get a copyright and trademark your game idea. You can find do-it-yourself kits for this or you may want to hire a lawyer.

    2. Research. Who is the target audience for your game? What games that currently exist target the same audience? Find out who publishes them and contact someone in their publishing or product development departments.

    3. You could always take out a loan and publish it yourself. Your concern then would be the cost of design, printing and packaging. You can sell your game to local toy, comic and book stores.

    4. If you want significant distribution you will be best served by registering for an ISBN number.
