How can I play a game on my computer without installing the game on the hard drive?

S b asked:

Are there any computer games that can be played just by inserting the CD into the CD rom drive without installing the game to the hard drive?

You can get a bootable linux CD with games on it. You essentially boot the entire OS into system RAM and never touch the hard drive. Many of them will come with a decent selection of simple games. There is even a project from gentoo.org that had UT2004 Demo on it.
