Can anyone remember the name of this computer game?

Showsni asked:

I’m trying to remmeber the name of a computer game, probably from the 90s. It was an educational game, featuring a detective. There were several minigames included; one was to do with describing what people were wearing, I think… One was just a plane flying across a map of the world. You could steer it, and the name of the continent you were flying over was shown. One was to find a gem in a pyramid; you had to answer questions based on history, then break open the corresponding block in the pyramid (which would show a date; more specific dates as the questions got harder) with a hammer to find a map for the next pyramid. (Out of hammers, and you had to go home.) There was some kind of currency converter, I think. And one game (again with questions; general knowledge or geography, I think) where at the end he’d jump in a car and drive away. Any ideas?
Whilst it seems similar to Carmen Sandiego, it’s not. There’s no overarching plotline in this game, and indeed no real storyline at all.

What is missing in the current educational system?

niceguy asked:

You asked this question a couple days ago. I responded “God.” My answer was reported in violation of cimmunity values as gaming and 11 points was taken from my score. Well, the answer is valid! When I was growing up, not that long ago, I was REQUIRED to say The Pledge of Allegiance to “One nation UNDER God!” So, I am posting the question again in order to prove my point that my anwer was valid. Anyone who disagrees, has to be merely an atheistic anti-American moron! The day the United States thinks it is above God or can BE God, is the day you and this government has lost all sense of reality, reasoning and true American values! If God was put back in the schools, and mind you, I do not care in the least what the laws say, the country will be better off for it and so will our children. This country was founded and built on these very principles and you can kill me or sue me or imprison me in your machine worshipping game all you want and I will still feel the same way. :P
I will feel this way to my very last dying breath just as my lifelong father, a career United States Marine did when he fought and gave his entire life for this country! God is what is missing from the current educational system in America! Not your TV enslavement self glorifying video game God, the real super natural creator of the universe, GOD and just like my father, I will fight for that notion to my last breath. Period. Say what you will. You’ll never change my mind. Ever!
And just to show who’s doing this to me and us, I posted this question in the educational category but when submitted, it somehow landed in the Law and Ethics category.
..and to the kid that responded, “Fun” is what’s missing, I’m here to tell you that school is full of fun. I played in band, went to football games, studied history, learned how to act socially, worked hard at mathematics and much more and it was ALL fun to me.

I was looking for some educational games for my 4 and 8 year old.

Do you remember this old Win 95/98 dinosaur game?

unlovedanger asked:

There was this game I played with Win 95 and 98. It could have been DOS, I am not sure, but it was on a CD-rom.
In it, an alien asked you to travel back in time to the different prehistoric eras to take pictures and videos of certain dinosaurs. If the picture or video wasn’t good enough, you had to go back and get a better one. If you disturbed the dinosaur, it would try to attack you. The dinosaurs became harder to find and easier to disturb as the game went on. It had awesome graphics, and cool dinosaur noises.
In it, you never harmed or killed the dinosaurs – I know it’s not Carnivores or Dinosaur Adventure. It was a great educational game, and I can’t find it anywhere!

What do you think of the “numbers game” that drives our institutions?

cherodman4u asked:

Clarifications: Like so many educational institutions, the justification for existing in today’s funding climate depends on the “numbers” that can be shown… for that, we have contrived standards and ludicrous measures that seem to get more transparent & lidicrous with each passing year. In special education alone we are seeing the creation of reloving doors to keep “programs” alive… much the same can be said for adolecents that get caught up in the court systems. If any one is “game enough to tackle this, I’d like you to consider the fact of our being entreched into this “numbers” mentality rather than showing the merits of a specific program in its ability to “fix” the problems – sociological & otherwise.
PREFACE: I want to continue with questions like this, so that people start to question the status quo… the normally accepted “COWDUNG” (COnventional Wisdom of the DUmiNant Group) “out there.”

Does anyone remember the name of this old computer game?

Christina A asked:

I played this game in fifth grade so that would be in 1995. It was about medieval times and there was a knight and a maze and some other stuff that I can’t remember now. It was an educational game so I doubt that many people had it at home. It was probably mostly used in the classroom. I think it might even have the word “knight” in the title, but I’m not sure. Any help would be great! I’ve been looking for this thing for a long time.

Even if you don’t know the title, let me know if anyone knows what I’m talking about. I’d be good to know that I’m not imagining things lol!

Are there any educational professionals that teach children with severe to profound disabilities?

Queen asked:

I have an assignment to complete. I had to pick 15 toys that will help develop pro-social behavior, targeting a specific age range. I chose the following toys. Lullaby Glowworm – lights up/plays music, talking vamones von – says phrases in english & spanish along with music phrase & sound effects, doodle pro, fun2learn – music songs, dance & movement, games, see&learn piano, intro to colors, shapes and intrument sounds, music mirror lights up baby’s face, alphabet pal – gross motor, auditory, congnitive language, letter and sound and plays 26 songs.
I am to discuss my written description and summary of my findings with an educational professional.

If you are an educator that is able to give me feedback in this area, please help. Any information you may have would be greatly appreciated.
